linksys default password and username

Last Updated on November 5, 2017

With some many online accounts to manage nowadays, it is fairly easy to forget your WiFi password. The most problematic thing if you have forgotten WiFi password is how to reset the WiFi password.

Today I’m going to share a solution for this problem in the case of Wifi routers of Linksys brand. Most of the wireless routers of Linksys are set with the default password and default IP. Though most of the models are set with defaults some Linksys router models have different passwords and IP set on them.

On most (but not all) Linksys brand routers:
The default password is admin and
The default IP address is 192.168.1.1

As admin is Linksys default password on many routers of Linksys brand, anyone can guess that password and get unauthorized access to it. It is very important to change the default password from admin to something else, which is more secure.

Below is a list of default IP address, the default username and default password on different Linksys routers. If you don’t find your router model in the list below, the default password will not work for you and you will have to try another turn around solution. More help on this can be found at the bottom of the article, below the Linksys router models’ list.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This list is updated regularly, so be sure to bookmark this page in order to easily get back here whenever the need arises.

The Linksys router default data does not work for me. What should I do now?

If the above-given default username and default password do not work for you, it means that the defaults have been already changed before. And unfortunately, you have forgotten the password and username of Linksys router. In this scenario, you are left with only two solutions now:
1. Factory Reset
2. Linksys Support

How to do a factory reset on routers?

Reset your wifi router’s username and password to factory default. Yes, reset to factory default is the trump card for every device’s technical problems at the primary level.

The process for factory reset is really simple. Most of the brand routers come with a small reset button/switch on them. You have to press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds (30 seconds for some router models). After this, unplug and plug the device once. This restores the factory defaults on your router.

Doing a factory reset would restore the default username, default password and default IP address on your router.

Linksys Support

If the factory reset did not solve your problem then you need to go and check for your router’s device manual. All the brand router models come with a specific device manual having general and specific advice for each device model. You may also be able to find the device manual or booklet in PDF format, for any product, on the official website of the company.
