The principal of a southern Idaho public charter school named Javier Castaneda died as a result of COVID-19, according to the school board.
In a letter to parents, the school board at Heritage Community Charter School in Caldwell reported Javier Castaneda’s death.
He was 48 years old.
Javier Castaneda Dies From Covid-19
Castaneda died unexpectedly Wednesday as a result of being ill with COVID-19, according to the school’s website, which leads to a GoFundMe campaign posted Friday.
In a letter obtained by KTVB-TV, the school board stated that the school will give counseling resources and other support to students.
COVID-19 has imposed several limits at the school. Facemasks were made optional at the school.

According to the school’s website, it concentrates on a classical liberal arts education and provides a strong foreign language concentration through a dual Spanish language immersion program.
Javier Castaneda was survived by his wife, Maria Castaneda, and seven children. In an email to the Idaho Press, Maria Castaneda’s brother, Kristopher Wieland, said, “Hundreds of his friends, family, and community members have reached out and we are so grateful for their love and support in this trying time,”
“Many have shared stories of how he has impacted their life.”
How Did Javier Castaneda Die?
Castaneda began to display symptoms around September 4, according to Wieland and was admitted to the hospital on September 6. On Sept. 10, he was put on a ventilator and died five days later.
