Junior Young Bio/Wiki

Following a DNA breakthrough, a man named Junior Young was found guilty of killing an 85-year-old woman more than 20 years after she died.

He is 39 years old.

Junior Young killed 85-year-old Woman ‘Hilda Lockert’ 20 Years Ago

Junior Young, then 18 years old, and an accomplice killed Hilda Lockert, 86, as she came home to south London.

During the heist on April 30, 2001, one youth seized Ms. Lockert’s mouth while the other grabbed her throat.

On April 30, Hilda was nearing her home at Langport House, Overton Road, when her coat and bag were seized from behind.

She collapsed to the ground, and two men ransacked her coat pockets, snatching her shopping bag, bus pass, and wallet, which contained only £15.

She suffered a variety of injuries as a result of the accident, including a fractured knee, and was brought to the hospital for treatment.

However, she suffered a blood clot and died two weeks later on May 15, her 86th birthday.

According to medical assessments, there was a “clear medical and genuine causal relationship” between Hilda’s knee injury and her death.

Young was detained a few weeks later on June 5 after initial inquiries, although he denied any involvement in the horrific attack.

Young was present at the scene, according to forensic investigation of Hilda’s shopping bag and coat at the time, but the match was not strong enough to accuse him.

There were apparently no witnesses and no CCTV footage of the crime.

The DNA samples from the shopping bag were re-examined in 2015 as part of a review, using an incredibly sensitive procedure and specialized software.

The DNA sample was deemed to be 1 billion times more probable to have come from Young, Hilda, and another unrelated person than Hilda and two other unrelated people, according to the expert who conducted the investigation.

According to TheSun, The Met Police’s Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard said, “Up until this attack, Hilda had been a very independent woman who continued to do all of her own shopping and housework.”

“Due to her age and the fact she was alone, Young saw her as an easy target and had no regard for the injuries he might cause when he violently robbed her.”

“Hilda’s sudden death left her family and those who knew her distraught but she has never been forgotten, thanks in part to them naming a street in Brixton after her.”

“Similarly we in the Met have never stopped fighting for justice for Hilda, despite the passage of time.”

“We are pleased that thanks to advances in science Young now faces a significant custodial sentence and we hope this acts as a reminder to others who think they have evaded justice that we will not give up in our quest to find them.”

Young was also charged with robbery.
