Andrade, who talked to The Post through an interpreter, said she was eager for the position because it would allow her to learn English and embrace a new culture.
According to the Brooklyn Federal Court lawsuit, the Esposito’s granted her a bedroom to sleep in while she cared for their four young children, but Andrade alleges she kept seeing Esposito in her room tampering with the smoke detector on the ceiling, which “was constantly being repositioned.”
She ultimately investigated the smoke detector less than three weeks into the work and discovered a camera inside with a memory card full of “hundreds of recordings,” the majority of which captured her “n*de and/or dressing/undressing,” she said in the lawsuit complaint.
She said, “He seemed very nervous and he seemed very worried when he arrived to the house,”
According to the nanny and court documents, Esposito arrived at the house “within minutes” of her discovering the device.
In an attempt to get Esposito to go, Andrade pretended to be sleeping, but he kept “banging on the door,” prompting her to go into “fight or flight mode,” she added.
She said, “I need to get away,”
Her knees were injured when she leaped from her first-floor window to an above-ground basement.
“I ran until I felt safe enough to stop,” she added, adding that she was unfamiliar with the region and had to hunt up the local police station online using her phone, where she reported the event and turned over the memory card.
She said, “I felt very afraid,”
“on top of what had just happened, now I don’t have a place to stay, I’m in a completely unknown country, I’m alone. I don’t have any money, I don’t know what I’m going to eat, I don’t know what I’m going to do tomorrow.”
