While playing with a hula hoop in the street, a nine-year-old girl was fatally stabbed in front of her younger sister. Lilia Valutyte was stabbed with a knife while she was outside a café where their mother was working with her five-year-old sibling.
After armed police raided a home in Boston, Lincolnshire, two men were last night in prison and were questioned about the attack. According to reports, one line of inquiry will focus on assertions that the assailant thought Lilia’s mother Lina, the head of a recruitment agency, owed him money for factory work.
Lithuanian Lina was reportedly working only 10 feet away while monitoring her daughters through the café window.
The police had issued four CCTV photographs of a suspect taken five minutes before Lillia was discovered, advising the public not to approach him and to phone 999 right away if they did.
According to police, the pictures were shot on Thursday at around 6.15 p.m. in Wormgate and Fountain Lane. On Thursday at 6.20 p.m., Lillia, who had been fatally stabbed, was discovered on Fountain Lane.
According to reports, she was outside with her younger sister playing just a few yards from the workplace where their mother was apparently working at the time. Locals said a toy pram was abandoned at the scene and the girls were carrying a hula hoop.
