Ricky Morgan Wiki
A machete-wielding ‘Terminator’ Tube attacker named Ricky Morgan has been found guilty of attacking a commuter.
When Ricky Morgan started an unjustified attack on James Porritt, panicked passengers tripped over each other as they fled through carriages, the Old Bailey heard. Morgan was overheard telling shocked witnesses: “This is not a terror attack, I only want him.” Mr. Porritt, who had a significant hand injury, told jurors it was like something out of a horror film or the Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi blockbuster Terminator.
Judge John Hillen postponed sentencing until July 22 to allow for the preparation of a psychiatric report. Before leaving court after today’s verdict, Mr. Porritt beamingly embraced a British Transport Police officer. The court had previously heard that Mr. Porritt and Morgan were complete strangers and that the attack was unjustified.

Machete Attacker Found Guilty
Morgan claimed insanity as an excuse for the attempted murder, but a jury at the Old Bailey found him guilty after two days of deliberation. He was also found guilty of having a machete and a lock knife in his possession. Mr. Porritt and Morgan were complete strangers, according to prosecutor Grace Ong. She said: “This was, the prosecution say, a completely unprovoked attack on a commuter on the Jubilee line going about his daily business.”
Mr. Porritt, a self-employed businessman, had gone to the gym on the evening of July 9 last year and was on his way to see his girlfriend and her father in west London. Morgan produced the machete and a lock knife from his bag near Green Park before boarding a northbound train at Westminster.
Mr. Porritt recounted sitting in the carriage minding his own business and being in a ‘bubble’ in a video interview aired in court.
When he heard a scream, he was looking at his phone, apprehensive about the family meeting. The defendant smacked him over the head the next thing he knew, the court was informed. The jury heard him raise his hand to defend himself throughout the assault. He described the attack as follows: “I was pleading ‘Please stop, please stop”.
“I was in shock, it was like a horror movie. I genuinely thought he was going to kill me.”
How Did The Attack Happen?
Mr. Porritt claimed he felt nothing but observed blood when Morgan smashed an object over his head. He said: “He was just hitting me. It did not make sense. I didn’t understand why this guy was hitting me. There was no confrontation. There was no issue, it was just bang, (he) started hitting me. He was like a machine. It was like that movie Terminator.”
He added: “He was emotionless. He did not seem to have any kind of compassion. But it seemed very focused and relentless and he was just hellbent on doing what he was doing. He was like on a mission. He kept hitting my shin and I genuinely thought I was going to die.”
He continued: “I’ve got nothing left now. I don’t know how I escaped. I was scared I was going to lose my little finger and I held it together. I just knew, fight or flight. I just ran for my life. It was like a stampede, people were terrified.”
Morgan rushed him and stabbed the ‘big’ blade through the connecting carriage door window, according to Mr. Porritt. Morgan said, pointing his knife through the door: “I don’t want anyone else, I just want him,”
He added: “It was just like he was a predator and he was hunting, and he decided he was hunting me.”
Mr. Porritt said being targeted by a stranger on a rush-hour train was “very bizarre.” Mr. Porritt said: “He just would not stop. He was relentless. He said he did not want anybody else, he just wanted me. He was fixated with me,”
While holding the cut parts of his hand together, he managed to escape via a carriage door. “It was just terrifying,” Mr. Porritt said, adding that others were yelling but couldn’t stop Morgan. Jurors were informed that Mr. Porritt had bone-deep cuts to his head and shin in addition to the terrible injury to his right hand. Passengers reportedly stood up and yelled when the guy began waving the knife about.
Many attempted to flee but, in their panic, ended up stacked on the floor, according to the court. As he swung the blade, the attacker gave out an ‘unholy scream,’ according to one witness.
Morgan was remanded in custody until his sentencing on July 22 at the Old Bailey.
